Severe Weather Notifications – Be Prepared

APRIL 16, 2025 –

As we approach the anniversary of the tornado that devastated Washington County in 2024, we need to prepare to ensure we receive emergency notifications in case of severe storms.
There are currently two options to receive emergency notification of a severe weather event on your cell phone. Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) by the National Weather Service and AlertSense provided by Washington County. Both are free and easy to use.
WEA will alert your device based on your location.  If you are traveling and there is server weather in the area, you will receive a notification. The Washington County 911 Center sends severe weather alerts through AlertSense.
